The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) issued a complaint accusing Google of illegally monitoring and questioning workers who were then dismissed for protesting against Google's policy and trying to unionize. The NLRB argued that Google illegally had access to employees' documents and meeting rooms to deter employees to form unions. Google defended its actions by alleging that employees breached information security rules.
