Twitter will work with Reuters and the Associated Press to address disinformation on the platform. The news agencies will support Twitter to provide more context and background information on events that create a high volume of tweets. The platform announced that the partnership will ensure that accurate and reliable information is rapidly available when facts are in dispute. Moreover, "rather than waiting until something goes viral, Twitter will contextualize developing discourse at pace with or in anticipation of the public conversation". The initiative is expected to increase the scale and speed of Twitter's work of addressing misinformation. The focus will be initially on English-language content.
