After being charged by the Indian government for non-compliance, Twitter has taken down 97% of the handles flagged by the government in relation to the widespread farmers' protests against recently enacted agricultural laws. The government alleged that these accounts were spreading misinformation about the political situation. Twitter publicly responded it did not fully comply with the request because it is against Indian media laws. The platform claimed that the posts were in line with protected freedom of speech and expression. The government has threatened to sue the platform, according to Reuters.
