Cisco to Unveil "Internet of Everything" Innovations in Sept. 24 Webcast

Sep, 16, 2013 Hi-network.com

The Internet networking industry is at a critical inflection point. For 30 years, networking has concentrated on driving speeds up and costs down, but it's no longer enough to manage only bandwidth growth.

With Internet traffic expected to explode in the coming years amid new waves of cloud, mobile, video and machine-to-machine connections, Cisco will unveil the first networking system engineered to power the "Internet of Everything," during a media, analyst and industry webcast on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 8:00 to 9:15 a.m. PDT. To register, please visit http://www.cisco.com/go/systemforioe

The technology we're announcing will support the emerging demands of our customers into the next decade, making it an especially significant day for Cisco and the industry.

The new innovations will feature the newly announced Cisco nPower? X1 integrated network processor, which delivers new levels of performance and bandwidth as well as programmable control using open APIs and advanced compute capabilities.

In my 20 years in networking, I have seen various market transitions in the networking industry and many of those were led with innovation on how to tackle the immense growth in bandwidth. And today we are at the crossroads of another such transition - and this time it is not just about solving the bandwidth challenge - as it is not just about growth in video, cloud , and mobility but also people connecting with various data , processes and things. By 2017, there will be more than 8.2 billion m2m nodes, up from 2.6 billion 2012 and another 12 billion smart devices (e.g., phones, TVs, tablets, etc.), each with a unique profile of networking, compute and control capabilities. This is the emerging Internet of Everything phenomenon, where trillions of connected "events" will be generated.

With the Internet of Everything era upon us, it truly is a great time to be working in this dynamic industry. Join the Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram conversation by following the hashtag,#SystemForIoE.
