Global broadband connectivity provider AFR-IX has announced a peering deal with Mombasa IXP Asteroid Mombasa. Asteroid becomes AFR-IX's East African partner, adding to other partnership deals in South Africa, Nigeria, and Djibouti. The peering agreement will therefore help to keep continental traffic local and improve internet speeds. It comes in the wake of a report by African Telecommunications Union (ATU) and Erickson which recommends acceleration of broadband connectivity within the continent.
