Thousands in India will benefit from Microsoft-designed courses covering topics such as AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity and web development, thanks to a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the company and the Directorate General of Training, Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship (DGT, MSDE). The initiative was launched as the company seeks to effect its mission on the subcontinent, to empower every person and every organisation on the planet to achieve more.
Students and educators, particularly women, alike at public technical vocational schools are expected to benefit from the program. Courses will be pitched at the basic and intermediate levels, but the initiative is designed to create a pipeline within which trainers can continually receive transferable skills and where learners are future-proof for meaningful employment with access to capstone projects and industry experts during training sessions.
The MSDE welcomed the initiative, announcing that it is well-positioned to contribute to the country's mission to become a trillion-dollar digital economy by 2026.
