According to ZDNet, only half of all public sector organizations in Brazil have appointed data protection officers (DPOs), despite the new rules established by the General Data Protection Regulation (LGPD). The LGPD indeed requires all central government organizations to appoint a DPO, responsible for the appropriate treatment of personal data. So far, around 55% of the government bodies, or 106 organizations in total, have complied with the measure.
