EURid uses AI-driven system for domain name suspension. EURid, the registry for the .eu top-level domain, has announced that it is using an artificial intelligence-driven system that can detect which .eu domain names will be used for malicious purposes and automatically suspend them before harm is caused. The Advanced Prevention and Early Warning System (APEWS) makes decisions with the use of dedicated machine learning algorithms developed by the KU Leuven company. To develop the AI system, .eu domain names were matched against blacklists and every detail of the matching was then used to train the predictive model. APEWS's main purpose is to detect domain name abuse before it takes place. According to EURid, the system has identified over 60 000 malicious .eu domain names since its deployment.
