The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has put cyber-attacks at the top of its focus for 2018, before the use of technology for good in conflict, neglected conflicts, transforming humanitarian funding, international humanitarian law, and forgotten people. In particular, ICRC is interested in the idea of a Digital Geneva Convention, proposed by Microsoft, for addressing the human costs of cyber-attacks in conflict, and particularly if critical infrastructure is attacked. President of the ICRC Peter Maurer is expected to address the forthcoming meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos with regards to pressing humanitarian issues in an increasingly digitalised and interconnected world, with a particular focus on protecting the humanitarian cyberspace.
