According to the International Association of Privacy Professionals, Brazil's Senate Plenary has approved a proposed constitutional amendment making personal data protection a fundamental right for all. The amendment will be promulgated in an upcoming session of the Brazilian National Congress. The amendment also offers "constitutional shelter" for the National Data Protection Authority provided for in the General Law of Data Protection.
