Uber has undertaken a new partnership with the river bus service Thames Clippers to offer bus service on the Thames. Riders will be able to book a ride on an Uber boat using the company's app that will generate a QR code to be used on board. The boats will differ from Uber's existing ride-hailing service because riders will not be able to choose their own routes. Uber stressed that boats offer a better solution for social distancing than subways. This is the first time that Uber offered boat rides as part of a commuter service. Uber has been offering an island-hopping service for years in Croatia during the summer only.
