Researchers US$10 million NSF grant to improve IoT security and privacy

The US National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded a team of researchers from 10 faculties a US$10 million grant to increase the security and privacy of Internet of things (IoT) devices for consumers. The study aims to develop engineering principles that enable people to be secure and protect their privacy while living in a trustworthy smart house. The project titled Security and Privacy in the Lifecycle of IoT for Consumer Environments (SPLICE) involves researchers from the following institutions: Dartmouth College, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Johns Hopkins University, the University of Maryland, the University of Michigan, Morgan State University, and Tufts University. The grant is part of the NSF's Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace Frontiers (SaTC Frontiers) programme.
