Pro-encryption bill currently ignored in the US Congress

03 de mayo de 2023 Hi-network.com
According to a media report from Daily Dot, a bill that would prevent US governmental agencies from requiring tech companies to weaken the encryption of their products and services in order to help law enforcement is stuck in committees in both houses of the US Congress. The 'Secure Data Act' was introduced in the Senate in early January, and in the House of Representatives in early February, and it is currently pending before the Commerce Committee in the Senate and the Intelligence and Judiciary Committee in the House. There do not seem to be signs that the two committees will make any progress in reviewing the bill on short term. Sources in the House Judiciary Committee said they do not expect the committee to move any encryption bills before a previously created encryption working group completes its analysis of the broader topic.
