Large spam and malware network goes offline

BBCreports that one of the largest networks of spam-sending computers in the world , known as the Necurs bonnet, has gone offline in a rather inexplicable manner. The botnet, which is thought to comprise about six million compromised Windows devices, has distributed spam and malware for many years, before suddenly slowing down over the recent weeks. Analysis carried out by researchers at Proofpoint show that Necurs administration systems have disappeared, but the cause of the shutdown seems to be unknown.
