YouTube's parent company Google has been fined by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to pay multi billion dollars for violating data privacy laws related to children by the video platform. It has been reported that YouTube has been inadequately protecting children and collecting their data which is in violation of the children's online privacy protection act (COPPA) that prohibits tracking and targeting of users below 13 years.
The case is now with the US Justice Department, which rarely upends the FTC's settlements with companies under its watch.
