A group of Democratic U.S. lawmakers have urged Facebook to drop plans for launching an Instagram app for children below 13 years, stating that the social media company has failed to "make meaningful commitments to protecting kids online."
In a joint statement the lawmakers have stated that "Facebook has a clear record of failing to protect children on its platforms," and that the company has always forfeited people before profits.
It may be mentioned that a week ago a group of 40 state attorneys general also urged Facebook to drop the plan.
