Last fall, Apple TV+ came to Android and Google TV devices in a roundabout way when it became available as an add-on to Amazon Prime Video. Now, Apple has finally announced the official streaming support for Android phones.

The Apple TV app is available in the Google Play Store for Android devices, letting users subscribe to either Apple TV+ or MLS Season Pass on their phones, TVs, tablets, and other Google-operated devices. Foldable phones will support the new app, too.
Before the Amazon add-on last year, you had to use either an Apple TV streaming box or a web browser to watch on your TV, neither of which were convenient options. Now, Apple TV+ will be just as widely available as other popular streaming services.
While Apple often walls off its ecosystem, it's not unusual for its apps to make it outside the walls. Apple Music, for example, is available on Android.
If you're unfamiliar with Apple TV+, the service currently costs$9.99 a month (but there is aseven-day free trial ). It debuted in 2019 as the first all-original content streaming service and quickly gained a reputation for its high production budgets and award-winning programming.

Apple TV+ is the home of popular shows like "Severance," "Silo," "Ted Lasso," and "Shrinking," plus a Friday night MLB doubleheader with no blackouts and select MLS games. It's also the home of MLS Season Pass, which gets you access to every MLS game from every club with no blackouts, but that's a$14.99-a-month add-on.
Like other streaming apps, Apple TV+ lets you watch on one device and pick up on another, create a watchlist for everything you want to watch, and download content for offline viewing. Apple says the Android version of the service was built from the ground up, meaning it isn't just some copycat variant that misses out on some features or should suffer from much quality control.
