Throughout history, mankind has proven that great achievements are built by pushing the limits. From the first rocket that orbited earth to the lunar landing mission (Apollo 11), those that defy boundaries today will own the possibilities tomorrow.
In networking, as in space exploration, we break modus operandi to create the next frontier -for example -intent-based networking. To achieve that, we unbind the network from the shackles of management complexities, the lack of real-time visibility and insight, and even the lack of control and automation. Because of that defiance (of what had always been, shouldn't always be), we engineered the first network that could time travel. An outcome powered by Cisco DNA Center at the core.
The big, hairy, audacious goal.
An innovation such as DNA Center, like the space rocket or the space shuttle, is an engineering marvel. But on its own, its reach is limited, and its potential confined by the boundary of its purpose-built design. Our big, hairy, audacious goal (BHAG) is to unleash the network's full potential beyond the constraints of our imagination and resources. Like the space exploration community, our BHAG is to empower and to enable the creation of an International Space Station like network. The International Space Station (ISS) weighs 419,455 kg (924,740 lbs.) and is as big as a football field, assembled piece-by-piece in Earth orbit. It came into existence as a result of 40+ space missions, of colossal cooperation by several countries (European countries, USA, Japan, Canada, etc.), and of continuous construction and enhancement spanning almost two decades. Today, the ISS serves as a laboratory, observatory, and factory in low orbit Earth, and also acting as a staging base for future space missions to Mars and beyond. An ISS-like network would play a similar role; be open and extensible to fuel innovation, partner-to-partner collaboration, data sharing, learning, and development for a greater outcome. And all Cisco partners, regardless of your practice or size, can partake in this mission starting with the next chapter of Cisco intent-based networking: Cisco DNA Center Platform.
