Nigel Bruin, principal consultant at Huawei, advised participants at the MyBroadband Conference & Expo in Midrands, South Africa, on how to prepare South Africa to successfully deploy 5G. He said that 5G was purposely designed for next generation services that need low latency, high bandwidth, and high reliability or resilience, and depend on Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Bruin added that, 'How we will embrace it will be a combination of developing and deploying a high-quality network and then building the software applications on top of that to make it a reality', despite the challenges of spectrum faced by South Africa. The government, industry, and technology partners need to work together to achieve this.
