Fortinet is pleased to announce that we have received a "Recommended" rating from CyberRatings.org for our secure SD-WAN solution. According to the company, "A product with the Recommended rating has the highest rating assigned by CyberRatings. These products are recommended for security, performance, and value. The product's capacity to meet its commitments to consumers is extremely strong."

Independent testing of the Fortinet Secure SD-WAN solution was conducted at the CyberRatings.org lab against its SD-WAN Test Methodology v2.0. The final test report states, "The Fortinet SD-WAN handled all use cases with ease and proved to be highly reliable and capable and should be on everyone's short list."

The Test

The Fortinet Secure SD-WAN 100F model was tested as a high-availability (HA) pair at the head-end, along with 70F models at several remote locations and included several use cases. Testing covered three key areas: management (such as zero-touch provisioning, routing and access control ranging from site-to-site VPNs to complex multi-zone policies), stability, and reliability (checking for its ability to block threats and pass legitimate traffic under load).

According to the report, "Tests were conducted in a multi-test environment with a redundant HA cluster at the HQ DC location and three disparate branches representing large, medium, and small enterprises. The WAN environment is provisioned like those typically encountered over WAN link states." In addition, "Traffic content, throughput, transport, and impairments were all tailored for each use case" to provide insight into how the Fortinet Secure SD-WAN solution would perform under various real-world conditions.

Impressive Test Results

We are pleased with the results as they demonstrate how our commitments to innovation and improvement have paid off. Fortinet Secure SD-WAN passed every component of the three test areas listed above.

For example, in the audio and video transmissions section, the lab calculated mean opinion scores (MOS) to evaluate the quality of audio and video an organization can expect when deploying an SD-WAN solution. Scores over 4 are considered very high quality. The maximum achievable MOS score for video was 4.53. For audio, the maximum achievable MOS was 4.41. When transmissions were subjected to a variety of severe impairments, such as packet loss, congestion, and WAN link failover, Fortinet SD-WAN maintained an average of 4.37 for video transmissions and 4.41 for audio, helping to ensure that end-users maintain an optimal experience regardless of adverse network conditions.

Test results provide valuable insights for our customers so they can make informed decisions about where and how to spend their budget. They also give us a clearer idea of where to focus our development efforts. Since our inception more than 20 years ago, we have actively fostered a culture of innovation and improvement, and our 1,285 patents (more than our next several competitors combined) and numerous accolades and recognitions from organizations like CyberRatings.org are a testament to that commitment.

We also actively promote testing and certification, such as our partnership with MEF (an industry working group of network, cloud, and technology providers), where we are helping develop the SASE certification program. In turn, MEF is collaborating with groups like CyberRatings.org to develop new SASE testing standards. Such efforts are setting the stage for future testing, which will enhance the information organizations can use to make informed decisions.
