Developing a new angle on an established relationship

Aug, 13, 2015 Hi-network.com

Over the past few years, Cisco and Intel's collaboration has extended into the realm of Internet of Things, allowing the strength of each organization to bring the industry as a whole, forward. In the Internet of Things, devices need applications, analytics, network connectivity, security, storage, and computing power.  The partnership of Cisco and Intel offers comprehensive solutions working alongside several ecosystem partners.

Recently, during Cisco Live in San Diego, CA, we jointly showcased innovative IoT solutions and highlighted our collaboration on NFV:

  • A smart city demonstration, featuring Legos and Fog Computing, was on display in the Intel booth showing how easy it is for cities to implement IoT solutions
  • Carlos Morales presented a captivating "Pre-Zen-tation" on Fog Computing, elaborating on how companies can extend the cloud to the edge
  • A highlight during the show was partaking in a#CiscoChat with Brad Haczynski, Intel's Global Account Director, Sales and Marketing Group, encompassed around making IoT and IoE tangible with the power of collaboration.

"Cisco & Intel Together Making IoT and IoE Real"

Additionally, Cisco, Intel, AdvanTech, and Wind River partnered with openBerlin, a Cisco IoE Innovation Center, to conduct a rapid prototyping session to solve a transportation customer's needs. (http://www.cisco.com/web/DE/innovationcenter/berlin/index.html)

What to look forward to during IDF

Fresh off our Cisco Live success showcasing Fog computing, we are excited to participate in this year's Intel Developer Forum.

In collaboration with Intel, Cisco will be featuring a demo of its 829 Router for Fog Computing, allowing attendees to get up close with one of the pillars of Webcast: Cisco IoT System, data at the edge. Fog computing enables fast, secure, and intelligent decision making at the edge, with applications running from fog to the cloud. The Cisco Fog Computing portfolio comprises an array of edge network devices with integrated compute, network, and storage to meet the needs of IoT verticals such as Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, Utilities, Transportation, Mining, and Public Sector.

In-Booth Demo

  • 829 Industrial Integrated Services Router and connected sensors in action -developers will have the opportunity to write code to the new 829 IISR in the booth.

DevNet

  • An important part of Cisco's demonstrations while exhibiting at IDF will be talking about our exceptional developer program. The DevNet website, APIs and tools will all be on show in the booth, and developers can even get coding in the online Learning Labs and testing in the online Sandbox.
