Cisco Live was a whirlwind of a week. We had a lot planned in the World of Solutions and for our healthcare session on measuring your hospital's infrastructure capabilities. But those weren't the only healthcare highlights this year.
The keynote kicked off with an impactful healthcare story. Children's Hospital of Los Angeles (CHLA) joined Chuck to share their experiences working with Advanced Services, Enterprise Networking, and Security to refresh their legacy network.
CHLA initially was facing a number of challenges: a slow network that was difficult to manage and built on disparate systems. Since switching over to Cisco, they have increased network availability, performance, and security. Security in particular is top of mind. With over 30,000 connected devices, they are now able to use Cisco ISE to improve their security posture and use Cisco Umbrella to protect against possible threats. In fact, in a two-month period, CHLA was able to review 150 million possible threats and block 550,000. With these systems in place, they can keep their focus on what matters most -delivering life-changing care.
"With the new network, bring whatever you want to bring. We'll have that level of confidence that we will be able to create those profiles and those understandings of any device." -Troy Veilleux, CTO of Children's Hospital Los Angeles.

Healthcare took center stage when Sachin Gupta, SVP of Enterprise Networking, joined David Goeckeler, EVP and GM of Networking and Security Business, to demo Cisco DNA using a hospital network example.
According to Gupta, whenever there is a wireless problem, solving it is like finding "a needle in a hay stack. And you are spending hours and hours to troubleshoot." With DNA Center, all the information on the network is available in one place, so you can see the health score of a device, historical information to help you identify the problem, and automated remediation recommendations. With DNA Center, you can also identify mission critical software, such as Electronic Medical Records, and set high-priority quality of service policies. Before, "it could take days, but certainly several hours. And they would be painful hours." But now you can roll out new policies and manage existing ones with just a few clicks.
