Cisco Sponsors Regeneration Roadmap Webcast: How Can Business Provide Leadership for Sustainable Development

Jun, 12, 2013 Hi-network.com

Join us tomorrow, as Cisco sponsors the launch ofChanging Tack, the final report of the Regeneration Roadmap, via global webcast from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. PDT (11 a.m. EDT/4 p.m. London)

The Regeneration Roadmap is a collaborative, joint initiative by GlobeScan and SustainAbility designed to advance sustainable development.  What is "sustainable development?" It is defined by a United Nations commission as development that "meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." In business, this equates to people and production practices that are good for society and the environment, as well as the bottom line.

The aim of the Regeneration Roadmap is  to provide a roadmap for achieving sustainable development within the next generation, focusing in particular on ways the private sector can improve sustainability strategy, increase credibility and deliver results at greater speed and scale.

The Changing Tack report released today holds that choices made on sustainable development now will shape success or failure in future. It also demands that business leaders commit to doing more to guarantee that present and future societies and ecosystems thrive.

The "Changing Tack" launch will assess the progress on the overall sustainable development agenda and consider what might be done, particularly by the private sector, to accelerate and scale future progress. During the live webcast, corporate leaders already active in sustainable development will share what they have done.

Kathy Mulvany, a Senior Director of Cisco Corporate Affairs, will speak about Cisco's CSR accomplishments, on a panel with other sponsoring companies. "We support collaboration projects like The Regeneration Roadmap to help inform Cisco's strategy for addressing issues such as access to healthcare, under-performing education systems, or increasing greenhouse gas emissions," Kathy says. "Together we can find answers to some of our most difficult leadership challenges."

The panel is being moderated by Jo Confino, Chairman and Editorial Director of Guardian Sustainable Business. Panelists include:

  • Kathy Mulvany, Senior Director, Corporate Affairs, Cisco
  • Clarissa Lins, Executive Director, Brazilian Foundation for Sustainable Development (FBDS)
  • Ursula Mathar, Vice President of Sustainability and Environmental Protection, BMW Group
  • Kelly M. Semrau, Chief Sustainability Officer, SC Johnson & Son
  • Chris Coulter, President, GlobeScan
  • Mark Lee, Executive Director, SustainAbility

The panel will engage in a 60-minute presentation and discussion followed by a 30-minute interactive Twitter-based Q&A.

As an event sponsor, we are providing streaming TV technology and use of Cisco TelePresence videoconferencing for all the panelists in London, Rio De Janeiro, Munich, New York City, Chicago, Toronto, San Francisco, and San Jose.
