Led by the UK's National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, over 129 child protection organisations have written to Facebook against the company's plan to encrypt all its messaging platforms. Facebook has been maintaining that encryption helps protect people from hackers and criminals, while child protection activists argue that encryption would allow child predators to operate with immunity on these platforms.
