US District Court orders FCC to release records on the net neutrality repeal proceeding

The journalist Jason Prechtel made a Freedom of Information Act (FoIA) request on June 2017 for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). In this request, Prechtel asked for data related to bulk comments on the proceeding to repeal net neutrality, which may contain comments falsely attributed to people without their knowledge. Annoyed by the FCC's refusal to respond to FoIA requests, the journalist wrote a lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the District of Columbia. Today a ruling by judge Christopher Cooper of US District Court for the District of Columbia ordered the FCC to release at least some of the records. Prechtel called the ruling "a huge victory for transparency over an issue that has gone unanswered by the FCC and its current leadership for too long."
