The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) together with Kerlink company plan to expand their water reservoir monitoring pilot to eight additional sites in Uganda, Iraq, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Bangladesh. The program, which began in January 2019 with reservoir monitoring in Uganda and Iraq, is based on installing Kerlink's LoRaWAN sensors at reservoirs. These sensors enable UNHCR managers to monitor water levels in real-time, and to provide visibility into usage and resource management. So far, the pilot results in Uganda managed to provide daily water deliveries to 470,000 refugees, and the agency hopes in the future to use the system globally.
