Samsung Display, a unit of Samsung Electronics, has filed a lawsuit against the Chinese BEO Technology company for allegedly infringing five of its patents for displays used in mobile devices, including Apple's iPhone 12. Essentially, Samsung Display claims that BEO Technology infringed patents regarding BOE supplied organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays. Apple has been using OLED displays in its Apple Watch and iPhone models, including the latest iPhone 14. Samsung Display currently dominates the OLED display market, while BOE has surpassed LG Display as the second-largest player in the market, according to market researcher Omdia. According to the lawsuit, Samsung Display claims that it has suffered irreparable harm due to BEO Technology's infringement, for which there is no adequate remedy.
