Privacy breach in credit monitoring agency leaves data of 37.000 Canadians compromised

Oct, 09, 2023 Hi-network.com

Credit monitoring agency TransUnion confirmed that the personal data of 37.000 Canadians had been compromised, between June and July 2019. In a letter sent to affected consumers, TransUnion said the compromised information could include a person's name, date of birth, current and former address, information on credit and loan obligations, and credit repayment history. According to BleepingComputer, an unauthorized person was able to gain access to a TransUnion Canada web portal and used it to pull consumer credit files, by using credentials stolen from a TransUnion customer who had access to the portal.
