The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) revealed a new global portal that provides an index for the wide range of actions underway to protect the environment and achieve a smart city vision (which also focuses on cities' actions in response to COVID-19). The portal, which compliments ITU international standards and guidelines with a collection of related studies and initiatives external to ITU, is structured as six sections corresponding to the ITU's areas of action: smart sustainable cities, municipal actions to tackle COVID-19, frontier technologies, climate actions, energy-efficiency, and e-waste and the circular economy.
