The report, titled '(In)visible Children -Eurochild 2022 report on children in need across Europe', published by Eurochild, evaluated the involvement of children in the European Semester and identified several areas where children need to be given even higher priority. It revealed a lack of attention to children's safety and protection online, which is crucial given the ongoing digitalisation and its effects on children.
It acknowledged that while the new Better Internet for Kids (BIK+) policy, adopted in May 2022, is unquestionably a step in the right direction, it is troubling that most national governments do not prioritise children's rights in the digital world. It asked policymakers at the national and European levels to take the lead in defending children's internet rights.
