In keeping with plans to become the region's digital economic powerhouse, Malaysia will onboard yet another data centre during the first quarter of 2024. Following its announcement late last year to launch its first International Business Exchange (IBX) data centre in Johor (JH1), Equinix announced plans to roll out another centre in Kuala Lumpur (KL1) during the same period.
The facilities will allow companies to store and distribute data and applications closer to end users and local markets. Customers will be able to connect with global cloud services providers such as Alibaba Cloud, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure.
KL1 will be located in Cyberjaya and is expected to house 900 cabinets and colocation space measuring 2,630 square metres at full capacity.
