The United States Justice Department along with several federal agencies is calling on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to revoke China Telecom (Americas) Corp's license allowing the provision of telecommunications services both into and out of the United States. China Telecom is a U.S. subsidiary of one of the People's Republic of China's state-owned telecom operator. In May 2019, the FCC unanimously voted against providing China Mobile, another state-owned operator a license to operate in the United States. China's foreign ministry continues to object to the allegations on security concerns and has called on the United States to adhere to market economy principles.
