Twitter's safe harbor protection for the user generated content remains unresolved after Twitter repeatedly did not comply with the new Indian Information Technology (Guidelines For Intermediaries And Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules.
The Indian government has now stated in an Affidavit that due to failure to comply with the new rules, Twitter no longer enjoys legal immunity against claims based on user generated content.
According to Jurist, Twitter is 'already facing several lawsuits in India, including child pornographic content and an allegedly manipulated hate crime video.'
