Representatives from both parties introduced a new legislative initiative titled The Informing Consumers about Smart Devices Act. The Act requires manufacturers to disclose whether smart appliances and devices are equipped with audio or visual capabilities. The Act targets specifically smart appliances like refrigerators and pet feeders and will not apply to cell phones, laptops, or tablets that customers expect to include a microphone or a camera.
