Bombay High Court: viewing pirated films online is not an offence

The Bombay High Court has said that viewing pirated copies of films is not punishable under the Indian Copyright Act. According to the Court, 'The offence is not in viewing, but in making a prejudicial distribution, a public exhibition or letting for sale or hire without appropriate permission copyright-protected material'.
