A Dedicated Cisco Wireless Certification Track Is on the Horizon

Aug, 26, 2025 Hi-network.com

Cisco has deep roots in Wi-Fi technologies, and so does our wireless community. I've spoken with many of you over the years on this very topic. That's why I'm excited to announce our wireless certification updates and dedicated Cisco wireless certification track that better aligns to your wireless technologies and the challenges you face in your day-to-day work, and beyond-all launching in March 2026.

The time has come for a single wireless certification track

CCNP Enterprise wireless concentration step aside. The time has come for a reestablished focus on modern wireless technologies, and with it a new dedicated wireless track from entry to expert. Get ready for our upcoming CCNP Wireless and CCIE Wireless certification track. Now you can follow a clear progression from the foundational Wireless Foundations course to more advanced professional and expert-level credentials.

Whether you're managing complex networks or empowering a mobile workforce, these certifications equip you with hands-on skills to excel. Built for the rapidly evolving wireless environment, they prepare you to lead confidently and drive innovation in your field.

Let's start with the foundational wireless training

You might know our Understanding Cisco Wireless Foundations training by its acronym: WLFNDU. This Learning Path is the ideal place to start for those who are new to WLAN and need to build the knowledge and skills necessary to work with Cisco wireless LAN (WLAN) network offers. It covers the critical aspects of RF technology and industry standards for Wi-Fi and security, and how to leverage that knowledge for the design, installation, and configuration of a WLAN network of any size. You can find this Learning Path on Cisco U. and with Cisco Learning Partners.

If you're already experienced in wireless technologies, check out the CCNP Wireless announcement to determine whether you've already got the experience and foundational knowledge to skip directly to a professional-level certification. After you've got the foundation and are ready for the professional track, your next step is CCNP Wireless.

A closer look at CCNP Wireless: Take the lead in wireless expertise

The CCNP Wireless certification validates advanced knowledge and practical skills in designing, implementing, and managing modern wireless networks. It covers core wireless technologies, including RF fundamentals, 802.11 standards, client connectivity, wireless monitoring, automation, and AI. It also tests your ability to deploy advanced solutions such as FlexConnect, quality of service, Multicast, enhanced security, and location services. You'll also be given the opportunity to demonstrate your expertise in wireless network design-from site surveys to high availability and mobility. This is a perfect opportunity to hone your skills and expertise in the growing niche and complexities of wireless technologies.

Like any professional-level certification, to achieve your CCNP Wireless, you must pass the core exam and one wireless concentration exam. Pass this core exam:

Implementing and Operating Cisco Wireless Core Technologies (350-101 WLCOR) v1.0

Choose one of these concentration exams:

  • Designing Cisco Wireless Networks (300-110 WLSD) v1.2
  • Implementing Cisco Wireless Advanced Solutions (WLSI 300-120) v1.2

If you recognize these concentration exams, it's because they were part of the CCNP Enterprise certification in the past. Starting March 19, 2026, they will be part of the CCNP Wireless track.

Look for new training specific to the CCNP Wireless core exam to be released sometime in March 2026 and available at Cisco U. Like all certification training, this new Learning Path will be about building skills and capabilities for you to be successful in your work-not just to pass the exam.

Next up, our new CCIE Wireless track

Our Cisco CCIE Wireless certification also reflects the growth and evolution of wireless technologies. It includes Cisco's popular cloud-based network management solution, Meraki, as well as platform-agnostic technologies like Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7.

To achieve your CCIE Wireless, you must pass the core exam and the expert practical exam. The new practical exam topics will include minor updates and the expanded coverage of Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 7, and Meraki technologies.

What this means for ENCOR (the Enterprise core exam)

With our new CCNP Wireless core exam, you can choose to focus only on the growing complexities of wireless technologies. This new exam and certification cover the key wireless concepts previously included in the CCNP Enterprise core exam.

In tandem, the CCNP Enterprise core exam will no longer cover wireless concepts, making the path to a CCNP Enterprise certification more straightforward for those who don't need to validate their skills in wireless networking or who want to complement their CCNP Wireless Certification with CCNP Enterprise.

The first date to test for the new wireless exams is March 19, 2026.

How to get started

Why wait?|?YouTube The exam topics for the wireless certifications are already available. Start reviewing them now to get a head start on the changes that are coming on March 19, 2026.

I'm thrilled about the upgraded Wireless Certification track and training portfolio, beginning with changes to the wireless core (WLCOR) exam. Wireless is a critical aspect of almost every network out there, and the renewed focus on WLAN is right on target.
