Eastcastle Infrastructure, a company specialising in shared telecom tower infrastructure in Africa, received a$30 million investment from the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund (EAIF) to support the purchase and expansion of telecom towers in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The investment aims to improve mobile internet coverage across the country, benefiting its young and rapidly growing population and generating economic opportunities in both rural and urban areas.

Eastcastle's BTS model facilitates tower development and promotes colocation and sharing among mobile network operators, leading to improved service delivery, reduced data costs, and expanded internet access in underserved regions. The project aligns with the DRC's national development plan and contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goal 9, promoting industry, innovation, and infrastructure while supporting broader developmental impacts by providing an equitable distribution of resources and benefits to SMEs and micro-entrepreneurs.
