According to Bloomberg, the company Walmart is now facing a proposed class action for having violated California's privacy law and failed to protect customer data from an alleged hack. The complaint states that customers face "significant injuries and damages," such as having their data on the dark web, as a result of a breach the complaint says occurred. California's privacy law which entered into force in 2020 has introduced a private right for individuals to sue and demands for statutory damages for up to$750 per customer, per incident.
